Cymbals Eat Guitars - Another Tunguska
- Bands are certainly making it hard for me to settle on album of the year so far. As of right now I can’t help but crown “David Comes to Life” - if you need convincing just pep yourself up with fist-pumper over here. But coming in a swift second place but still maybe possibly almost coming in first is the new record by Cymbals Eats Guitars called “Lenses Alien.” I first heard of these guys when I was living in London a few years ago, and would just kind of walk around to get lost and play their first album nonstop. They specialize in this early 90’s influenced complex but catchy indie rock that I love, and their ambition with this new record really reminds me of “The Monitor” by Titus Andronicus - another obsession of mine. Check out the album version of this song called “Another Tunguska,” a song that I’m pretty sure I posted the demo of a few years ago when it was floating around the internet.
