- Every July, Barnes & Noble has a pretty snooty 50% off sale on Criterion Collection films. It just so happens that my birthday was last month and I had some leftover cash. It also just so happens that the good people at Criterion decided to put one of the best movies ever made, Akira Kurosawa’s “High and Low,” out on Blu-Ray. I watched it this weekend in the worst sweltering heat I’ve felt in awhile and it was glorious.
